Map the operational pain
Move more material, get more production out of existing assets, and reduce downtime.
| Problem | Solution |
|---|---|
| Equipment sits idle or isn’t used efficiently | Tracks equipment and helps optimize utilization |
| Production is below plan | Tracks production in real time and shows where output is being lost |
| Equipment breakdowns stop production | Monitors equipment health and plans maintenance |
| Trucks, equipment and workers aren’t coordinated | Dispatches and coordinates resources across the mine |
Make the offer easy to act on
You’re trying to reach people who don’t know you. The more complete your solution is, the more steps you take over for them, the better it is.
The more you make this done for you, the better it’s going to work. I like to put guarantees or performance-based offers on all of my offers because it works so much better.

Target active mine operators
Mine operators and mining companies with active production. It’s important that they’re actually running something.
Reach every decision maker and every influencer with something that’s relevant to them. An IT director will care about different things than a mine manager.

|---|---|
| Industry | Mining and metals, coal mining, metal ore mining, mineral mining |
| Company type | Mine operators and mining companies with active production |
| Company size | 100+ employees |
| Geography | North America, Europe, Australia, Latin America, Africa |
| Mine type | Open-pit and underground |
| Primary roles | Secondary roles |
|---|---|
| Mine Manager / General Manager | VP / Director of Maintenance |
| VP / Director of Mining Operations | Asset Manager |
| Head / Director of Operations | Fleet Manager |
| Operations Manager | Head of Digital |
| Production Manager | Head of Digital Transformation |
| Mining Engineering Manager | CIO / IT Director |

| Operational Excellence Director |
Use signals to build the market
At least one active, producing mine is required. We don’t need all of these signals, but these are examples.
Hiring for the thing that you solve is a great angle to reach out for. It means they’re problem aware and solution aware to an extent.
| Signals | What to look for |
|---|---|
| Scale | Multiple operating mine sites; 500+ mine/site employees |
| Equipment | Open-pit operation with significant mobile equipment |
| Production | High annual production volume |
| Expansion | Currently expanding a mine or a new mine entering production |
| Hiring | Mine operations, production or digital roles |
| Exclude | Exploration-only companies, pre-production mining projects, royalty/streaming companies, mining investment companies and tiny artisanal operators |

Reach the market and call warm replies
The total addressable market is limited, and we’re dealing with average contract values over $100,000.
Every positive reply gets a call within five minutes from an SDR. The shorter you make it, the higher the booking rate.
| Channel | Monthly plan |
|---|---|
| Cold email | 10,000-20,000 personalized emails to every relevant decision maker |
| Cold calling | Around 2,000 dials to start meaningful conversations |
| Warm calling | Call every positive email reply within five minutes |
Build the sending infrastructure
Send from secondary lookalike domains to protect the main domain. Use the main domain for internal purposes.
We use Google inboxes. We don’t send on weekends.
| Sending infrastructure | Plan |
|---|---|
| Monthly emails | About 20,000 |
| Sending days | 20 |
| Emails per Google inbox per day | 15 |
| Inboxes per domain | 3 |
| Google inboxes | About 66 |
| Domains | 22 |
Choose the right outreach angle
Most of these people already have a solution. We have three main outreach angles.
You could offer to get them up and running within 72 hours with a data export. You can also offer buyouts of their current contract.
| Angle | When it fits |
|---|---|
| Replace | The current system is outdated, difficult to use, or isn’t delivering the results they need. |
| Add / Enhance | The current system works, but doesn’t solve a specific operational problem. Add the missing capability. |
| Integrate | Data is scattered across multiple systems. Make the existing systems work together. |
Replacement scripts
Replace an existing system that falls short. Target mine, operations and fleet managers.
In these scripts, include an actual customer you have. You can replace the final CTA with a video, a brief, a free trial or a quick chat.
Subject: truck queues
Hey [name],
Are trucks still queuing at loaders despite your dispatch software?
If so, we can trial a replacement on one fleet. It routes trucks to available loaders as conditions change. You only pay if tonnes moved per shift improve.
We helped a copper mine cut truck waiting time by 20%.
Can I send you a short video showing how it works?
Subject: switching dispatch
Hey [name], we cover setup and crew training when you switch dispatch systems. Thought this might be relevant.
Our software updates truck assignments as loading points get busy. You can test it on one fleet before committing.
A gold mine moved 10% more tonnes per shift after switching.
Can I send you a short demo?
Subject: quick question
Hey [name], if better dispatch software came with a free trial, would you take a look?
P.S. A copper mine replaced its old system and cut truck waiting time by 20%.
Turn the reply into a conversation
The point of the first cold email is to start a conversation. Especially for expensive software, talk to these people before booking a call.
Call the lead as soon as they say they would take a look. You learn about them and learn if you actually can help.
- ReplyThey would take a look
- CallLearn about them
- MeetingNurture them before booking
Add a missing capability
Add a missing capability. Target production, fleet and maintenance managers.
Specific proof is better than generic proof. Recent proof is better than proof that’s far out. Mentioning names is better than mentioning none.
Subject: lost tonnes
Hey [name],
Do you find out a shift missed target after it ends?
If so, we add live production alerts to your current system. They flag shortfalls while your crew can still act. The first month is free on one fleet.
A copper mine used them to lift tonnes per shift by 10%.
Can I send you a short video?
Subject: fewer breakdowns
Hey [name], we offer a free equipment health trial on five trucks. Thought this might be relevant.
It adds early fault alerts to your current maintenance tools. Your crew can plan repairs before a truck stops mid-shift.
A gold mine cut unplanned downtime by 20% using these alerts.
Can I send you a short demo?
Subject: idle trucks
Hey [name], if free idle-time alerts worked with your current dispatch system, would you take a look?
P.S. A coal mine added them and cut truck idle time by 15%.
Connect existing systems
Integrate existing systems. Target operations, technical services and digital leaders.
Start with a relevant question related to the pain point. Then the offer, the risk reversal, social proof and a low-commitment ask. Lower the effort and sacrifice as much as possible.
Subject: shift reports
Hey [name],
Does your team merge fleet and production reports by hand?
If so, we connect both systems into one live shift report. We set up the first site free. You keep the tools your crews already use.
A copper mine saved two hours of reporting each day.
Can I send you a short video showing how?
Subject: truck status
Hey [name], we connect maintenance updates to your dispatch system. We cover the first site's setup. Thought this might be relevant.
Dispatch sees when a truck enters or leaves the workshop. Your current tools stay in place.
A gold mine cut calls checking truck status by half.
Can I send you a short demo?
Subject: mine reports
Hey [name], if we connected your mine reports for free, would you take a look?
P.S. A mining group linked three sites' systems and saved ten reporting hours a week.
Work backwards through the funnel
Based on conservative assumptions: send 10,000 emails and get around 100 replies. Twenty of those are positive.
That’s 16 bookings and 13 who show up. At a 15% win rate, about one to two deals close per month, theoretically. There’s a delay because of your sales cycle.
- 10,000Emails sent

Break down the monthly cost
The loaded cost of an SDR or setter includes hiring, tools, salary, commission and manager time.
